Celebrating 25 Years of Shoe Repairs & Key Cutting
This year marks a very special milestone for Cobblers & Keys โ 25 years since our first shop opened in 2001.
A lot can change in a quarter of a century, but our approach remains remarkably familiar: good workmanship, honest advice and friendly, face-to-face service.
Today, Cobblers & Keys serves customers across four locations, including our shop in Nottingham’s Victoria Centre, offering everything from expert shoe repairs to precision key cutting, watch repairs and engraving.
For husband and wife team Nick and Dawn Clark, however, the story goes back even further.
From 1985 to a Family Business Established in 2001
Nick and Dawn have worked in the shoe repair and key cutting industry since 1985, giving them more than 70 years of combined experience in the trade.
In 2001 they opened the first Cobblers & Keys shop, building a family business around skills that have always mattered: craftsmanship, attention to detail and treating customers properly.
Twenty-five years later, Cobblers & Keys has grown to four locations while retaining the independent, family-run character on which the business was built.
And although the tools and technology available to us have certainly moved on since 2001, much of the job still comes down to experience.
Knowing whether a favourite pair of shoes can be saved. Knowing how to achieve a lasting repair rather than a temporary fix. Knowing which key blank, cutting method or security profile is needed. And, sometimes, simply knowing when the best advice is the simplest advice.
25 Years of Repairing Rather Than Replacing
There is something particularly satisfying about celebrating 25 years in the repair trade.
We’re in a business built around making things last.
A worn heel doesn’t necessarily mean a new pair of shoes. A tired sole isn’t always the end of a favourite pair of boots. Something that has been well worn, comfortable and trusted can often be repaired and enjoyed for years longer.
Our shoe repair services cover everything from heels, soles and stitching to leather repairs, stretching, polishing and general footwear care.
It’s traditional craftsmanship that makes just as much sense in 2026 as it did when we opened our first shop in 2001 โ perhaps even more so.
Repairing good-quality footwear can save money, reduce waste and, importantly, means you don’t have to say goodbye to the shoes you’ve finally managed to break in!

You’ll also find watch repairs, batteries, engraving, shoe care products and plenty of friendly advice available in store.
For customers across Nottingham and the surrounding area, we’re proud to offer the kind of practical high-street service that has always been at the heart of Cobblers & Keys.
Traditional Skills, Modern Equipment
Some things have changed enormously during our first 25 years.
Key cutting technology is more sophisticated. Modern security keys require increasingly precise equipment. The footwear and materials coming through our doors have evolved, and the services customers need continue to change.
We’ve changed with them.
But technology works best when it’s backed by people who understand the trade.
That’s why Cobblers & Keys combines modern equipment with traditional skills and decades of hands-on experience. Whether we’re restoring a pair of shoes or cutting a precision security key, the objective is much the same as it was back in 2001:
Do the job properly and give the customer a service worth coming back for.
Thank You for 25 Years
No independent family business reaches a 25th anniversary on its own.
So this milestone is as much about our customers as it is about Cobblers & Keys.
To everyone who has brought us a pair of shoes that was apparently “beyond saving”, trusted us with a key, dropped in for a watch battery, ordered an engraving, recommended us to somebody else or simply returned year after year โ thank you.
Your support has allowed a family-run business that opened its first shop in 2001 to grow and continue doing what we love 25 years later.
We’re incredibly proud of what Nick, Dawn and the Cobblers & Keys team have built.
And we’re looking forward to repairing plenty more shoes and cutting plenty more keys before the next big anniversary arrives.
